FAQ / Submission Guidelines

What are your prices?

They vary depending on the scope of the project, so the more detailed you can be when you contact me, the closer I can get in giving you an accurate estimate. For instance, if it's a mixing project, are you looking to have instruments nudged around and/or vocals tuned as well? Is it a 5 track project or over 100? The more I know, the more I can give! If you're unsure of anything, though, please don't hesitate to contact me and we can set up a time to discuss all the details we need before getting started.

What is the difference between mixing and mastering? Do you do both?

A lot, honestly. But to sum it down to a general overview:

Mixing is taking your individual tracks and setting their balance, applying compression, eq, reverb, etc., and shaping the overall tonal quality of the song/album.

Mastering is the last stage of making sure a song/album is ready both technically and artistically for release on the intended platform. Generally speaking, this is setting final eq and compression, loudness levels, and, if it's an album, making sure the balance between all the songs makes sense as a whole.

It is best practice to have someone different master a project other than who mixed your song/album. A different set of ears in a finely tuned room will provide the best mastering results from a well-mixed project.

If I am mixing your project, best practice is to send your mix to a mastering engineer for a new set of ears to make final decisions before release. That final step of quality control can absolutely be crucial in the process. However, if your budget is tight and/or you're under a time constraint, we can talk about what steps can be done to get your mixed project to a commercially competitive release without sending it to another engineer.

I have a mixing or mastering project. How do I send things to you?
